What We Do

A successful music program comes from an inspired community of teachers, administrators, students, and parents.  Ridgefield Music Parents is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization run by parents of Ridgefield High School students of instrumental music, including Symphonic Orchestra, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Applied Percussion.  Parental support is vital in event planning, fundraising, and general support of our community of musicians.

Ridgefield Music Parents began in 2012 and was legally founded as a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation in October 2015 at the request and under the direction of Instrumental Director Michael McNamara.

The main vision Mr. McNamara had for the organization was to serve as a multi-faceted support system to the Instrumental Music program designed to serve three main objectives:

  • To assist in the planning and logistics of program events

  • To raise awareness of the program within the community

  • To raise supplementary funds in the program.

RMP exists to pool efforts, ideas, and resources, to assist and support the Ridgefield Public Schools music programs to provide an experience that will be educational, enjoyable, and rewarding for the students.

RMP executes these functions by partnering with music students and their families to create community, fundraising to supplement music programs and experiences, and advocating for strong music programs within our schools.

Since 2015, RMP has put on a number of events and fundraisers and assisted the music department in innumerable ways.  Recently, the mission of RMP has grown to also include the RHS Choir program and expanded its mission to assist programs at all levels in the Ridgefield School District.
