Elementary School Band

The RPS Band Program aims to cultivate a passion for music in our 5th-grade students. The program is designed to prepare our young musicians for middle and high school ensembles through the establishment of foundational skills, effective practice routines, professionalism, and a lifelong joy of music.

Each student in the RPS Band Program will participate in one 30 minute small group lesson and one 45 minute large ensemble rehearsal per six-day cycle. The small group lesson provides the opportunity to build proper technique, practice routines, music literacy skills, and cultivate autonomous musicians.  The ensemble rehearsals provide the opportunity to collaborate with other musicians and create wonderful musical experiences as a group. All of these experiences will culminate in two performances throughout the school year.

In addition to school-based performances, the RPS Band Program offers 5th grade students the opportunity to perform in the All Elementary District Music Festival. We encourage all of our students to participate in the festival to showcase their talent.  We hope you consider enrolling your child in the RPS Band Program to begin their lifelong journey filled with the joy of music!
