Middle School Chorus
At ERMS and SRMS, students who are interested in singing have the opportunity to participate in their grade-level chorus. Chorus at the middle school level is a class that meets every other day for a 40-minute period during regular school hours. In rehearsals, we focus on the development of unison and part-singing, ensemble skills, ear-training, and musical literacy. In a typical school year, each grade-level chorus performs in two evening concerts (winter and spring). The students study and perform choral repertoire of diverse styles and genres, from a variety of cultural traditions and musical time periods.
Students who wish to extend their participation in the choral program and want to sing a more challenging repertoire and work towards a higher level of individual and ensemble performance are invited to audition for the ERMS or SRMS Chamber Singers. Chamber Singers is an auditioned, extracurricular vocal ensemble that rehearses once a week outside of the regular school day. This small ensemble of approximately 25 dedicated, enthusiastic singers performs for special events and festivals in addition to the standard winter and spring concerts at the school.
